Garden and PoolLike many holiday properties in Menorca, Casa Avellana started life as a plot of land with a few bushes and one or two trees.  Two large pine trees have been retained by the front entrance to the villa and an old Olive tree provides some privacy to the front of the plot. To the rear of the plot is open farmland which gives a pleasant rural feel to the property.

The villa was originally designed as three bedrooms, however a fourth bedroom was added after talks with our architect and builder. We have tried to create a house that would be as much a home for us as a couple and a family home when all the children join us for holidays. Equally, we wanted to enjoy summers on the terraces and winters by the fire.

We found the plot in October 1998 and completed the purchase during January 1999, building commenced during July and was completed in December.

Following completion of the house we had to turn our attention to the garden. Anxious not to replicate an English garden in Spain, we sought advice and help from Andrew and Beckie Williams from Evergreen.  The result is a Spanish style garden which is virtually maintenance free.
